What to explore within walking distance when you stay at The Burrell House? If you are a health nut and would like a salad bar or some delicious sandwiches, visit Bbakes or the Food-Coop, if you’re craving Italian, enjoy Luca’s Mediterranean Cafe. Feel like a pizza? We have: Athens, Underdog, and Little Zoe’s just to name a few. Want a good salad or sandwich; this can be ordered at the Stage, Fireworks, Lindy’s Diner , Elm City Brewery or The Works Bakery Cafe. Feel like tapas? Then the new downtown Keene restaurant “Muse” is for you. Shopping in our locally owned stores is a must and a great way to explore downtown Keene: we recommend Urban Exchange, Shadow and Soul Emporium, Moe, Synergy, Miranda’s on Main, La Peche Lingerie, Hanna Grimes, The Simple Nest, and Ted’s Shoes and Sport.
Adventurous active people can throw an axe at “The Axe House“, go bowling at “Yankee Lanes“, golfing on Bretwood, our well-maintained public golf course and within a 25 miles radius we have dozens of beautiful lakes to explore for swimming, boating and fishing, plus sky rides and mountain biking at Granite Gorge. We have lots of amazing hiking spots as well: Goose Pond, Mountain Monadnock, Chesterfield Gorge just to name a few.
When it’s winter the fun doesn’t stop: New Hampshire is one of the best places to ski in New England. We have Pat’s Peak, Crotched Mountain and Granite Gorge, which is a great location for kids to learn skiing, snowboarding and they have awesome tubing. For skating visit our rink, “Keene Ice.”
Being centrally located in the Monadnock Region we are close to hiking trails, biking paths and several skiing locations. The Burrell House in Keene NH has been a popular destination for a quick 2 day get-away to enjoy the outdoors and also as a romantic wedding location for those who want to combine historic elegance with a modern twist.
